Correction: Constitutional Fix In on Hillary for State

They slipped it in when I wasn't looking. I have no excuse for having a serious constitutional question arise and knowing nothing about it. But Congress did officially slash the Fed SOS's salary to allow her to slip in, even w/o a paycut from the Senate (although I thought it was the Senate's pay level that mattered...anyway, my bad.) So, she's....good...to go, ahem. The slip-in-fix story is here: http://www.domainb.com/people/in_the_news/20081212_hillary_clinton.html
Interestingly, Congress itself as a body chose to obey the Constitution rather than confront it, even though the "Saxbe Fix" is questionable at best and WORTHY OF A CHALLENGE, ahem again. But I digress into fantasy, thinking we have allies.
It is, however, possible that Congress must act on what it KNOWS. Withhold information and they can plead ignorance, which the majority of them would probably admit to aforethought. So if Congress doesn't know about any possible inconsistencies, and can plead that Senator Obama's record itself speaks for its own authenticity (which is what is happening as long as vital records are sealed), then they remain legally blameless. Blamelessness is something they would look to, as a body, the same way they looked to the Hillary question.
Dumb, but not stupid. Or is it the other way around?
