Letter to Robin Wright, Diplomatic Correspondent for the Washington Post

Dear Ms. Wright:
I was just watching you on the Chris Matthews show (Sunday morning) where you were emphatically stating that Iran wants nuclear ENERGY, not necessarily nuclear WEAPONS.
So, what....Iranian oil doesn't work? Is there something wrong with the combustion engine? Oil-fired power plants are now "so last millenium"? WHAT???
They can meet all their power needs and more.For you to state on national television that this band of Shiite barbarians straight out of the 8th century are just trying to turn the lights on and not get their hands on a weapon that can level entire cities and plunge a world not just into war but into nuclear winter is not just obtuse, it borders on treason.
I'm a journalist myself and fair and balanced reporting is by and large a thing of the past because of liberal agenda promoters like yourself. The truth can't be told because you're too busy trying to be the smartest person in the room and sell your next book (or soon-to-be-written book).
Run-of-the-mill orthodox Islam is dangerous and backwards. Winston Churchill said it, John Quincy Adams said it, and Robert Spencer and a plethora of others are saying it right now. But their voices can't be heard because of your own.
France is now 10% Muslim and they are rioting in the streets. Look at Thailand, Indonesia, Chechnya. Everywhere there's a Muslim country on a non-Muslim border there is conflict. Islam has spread like a violent cancer for 1400 years. It's first meal were Christian cities and peoples, which may very well be its last.
I don't hate Muslims nor am I a rightist war-monger (or whatever moniker you'll employ to stifle debate and squelch the facts), but just how many times must western civilization....you know, the society that allows, nurtures and protects people just like you (will Islam put up with your bullshit?)...how many times must western civilization be attacked before you quit feeding your own monstrous ego and wake up and report the facts and the truth:
Islam has made war on us, and that war is sanctioned and commanded by the Koran. Shia or Sunni, this IS Islam...it's the moderates that DON'T want to kill us that are the radicals and the exceptions.

(Thank you, President Adams. And there you have it, sports fans. Not MY words, not the words of some right-winger or some hate-monger or some bigot.....no, these words belonged to a President of the United States, a politician, and one with a vested interest in not offending anybody.)

Russia, Sweden, and the United Arab Emirates had announced similar shifts out of the dollar into other currencies and gold earlier and cited the United States's "twin deficits" (i.e. the US trade deficit as well as its budget deficit) as the reason for the expected fall in the dollar's value.[10]

Operation Wetback

No, folks, that's not MY term....that is an actual government moniker for an operation conducted back in 1954. It appears that deporting illegal aliens is NOT impossible, as the White House has claimed. It's been done before, TWICE, both times with success. Operation Wetback
In 1949 the Border Patrol seized nearly 280,000 illegal immigrants. By 1953, the numbers had grown to more than 865,000, and the U.S. government felt pressured to do something about the onslaught of immigration. What resulted was Operation Wetback, devised in 1954 under the supervision of new commissioner of the Immigration and Nationalization Service, Gen. Joseph Swing.
Swing oversaw the Border patrol, and organized state and local officials along with the police. The object of his intense border enforcement were "illegal aliens," but common practice of Operation Wetback focused on Mexicans in general. The police swarmed through Mexican American barrios throughout the southeastern states. Some Mexicans, fearful of the potential violence of this militarization, fled back south across the border. In 1954, the agents discovered over 1 million illegal immigrants.
In some cases, illegal immigrants were deported along with their American-born children, who were by law U.S. citizens. The agents used a wide brush in their criteria for interrogating potential aliens. They adopted the practice of stopping "Mexican-looking" citizens on the street and asking for identification. This practice incited and angered many U.S. citizens who were of Mexican American descent. Opponents in both the United States and Mexico complained of "police-state" methods, and Operation Wetback was abandoned.
